Infrastructure Project Management

650 to 750 words Harvard referencing system

On page 102 of the article ‘Innovation in Megaprojects: Systems Integration at London Heathrow Terminal 5’ the authors identify six processes required to execute a megaproject. They note that in each megaproject there is discontinuity between the processes required to deliver the project and those involved in the operation of the end result. Select two of these processes and prepare an analysis of the lessons learned from the London Heathrow Terminal 5 megaproject, explicitly addressing the challenges in moving from the project into operations.

Solution in Harvard Format: by In this paper we will study about the discontinuity between the processes required to deliver the project and those involved in the operation of the end result. We have to also prepare an analysis of the lessons learned from the London Heathrow Terminal 5 megaproject, explicitly addressing the challenges in moving from the project into operations. In brief description about the London Heathrow Terminal 5 mega project, it can be described as a Europe’s most complex and one of the largest projects. The Heathrow T5 project was Europe's most complex and one of the largest projects. The objective of this project was to actually build-up the capacity of the airport from sixty seven million passengers to ninety five million passengers in a year. Approximately £4.6 billion project was a big example of a mega-mega project because of its complexity, scale, and of course the high cost. The main play-actor of this project was the well-known BAA (British Airport Authorities), but actually this terminal was designed by the again well-known Richard Rogers (BBC, 2008). As described by Fewings (2013), British Airport Authorities is one the major company who has achievements and capabilities in budget savings for almost fifty projects with its major capability to reduce the cost and time to approximately 30 %. This project was also successfully complete on time. However with 2 weeks after opening this project, T5 faced huge problems
